Ti Tree Lad Relishes The Wet At Mt Gambier

Ti Tree Lad delivered a strong performance at Mt Gambier on October 8, claiming his third career win in dominant fashion. The gelding relished the heavy track conditions, handling the going better than his rivals and proving far too strong late.

Ti Tree Lad was scratched from the races on Sunday at Bendigo, with the team instead opting to sneak across the border, diligently following the weather forecast to their advantage. Freedman commented “He is a horse who is very effective on soft or heavy surfaces, which has been evident with each of his wins coming on a Soft 6 or worse. As the weather is improving through the Spring, we have been trying to place him as best we can to find a soft track and it was pleasing this plan could come off today.”

Ti Tree Lad has not necessarily always been the punters pal, always running consistently without winning but Freedman has done a great job in turning his fortune, with two wins from his previous three starts. The six-year-old now has etching closer to the $100,000 prize money bracket, a great effort considering he has only won the three races.

The victory marks the 10th win of the season for the Mitch Freedman stable, continuing a consistent run of form in the early Spring months. It has been a whirlwind fortnight for the stable, subject to the highs and lows of racing, yet the team are doing a fantastic job sticking to the process, trusting the systems in place and reaping the rewards along the way.
