Gold Topaz Breaks His Maiden In Style
Tuesday, 18 Nov 2025
Exciting young colt, Gold Topaz was a dominant winner at Bordertown on Friday November 14, bolting in by an easy 3.15lengths. The lightly raced colt was certainly bringing the best form into the race, fresh off a 4th at stakes level on Melbourne Cup Day and justified his extremely short odds.
Since arriving to the stable from Peter Hardacre, Gold Topaz has been a pleasure to train and is a promising stayer on the rise. Sired by Ghaiyyath, who is currently leading the 2nd season sires by stakes winners and prizemoney, we think this colt is one to watch out for in the future.
Freedman said “He arrived to our stable in terrific condition and we are thankful for the opportunity we have been given. He ran two nice races leading into this race at Bordertown and we felt this race was the perfect stepping stone for the Melbourne Classic, a new race which is on Saturday November 29 for 3 yearolds over 2000m.
“When assessing the race calendar off the back of is run at Flemington, we really only had the two race options, Bordertown, Pakenham on the same day as Bordertown or to trial between runs. He is a Vobis Silver horse but also is SA Rewards qualified, so we were confident heading west down the highway was the right move and glad that the plan has come off.”
Congratulations to Peter Hardacre and his connections involved in the horse on his maiden win, no doubt the first of many in his career as he rises through the ranks and we look forward to seeing him back at the races on the 29th!
