Promising three-year-old filly Our Pierro delivered a deserved maiden victory at Kyneton on January 31, giving trainer Mitch Freedman his eighth winner for the month and continuing a strong run of form for the stable.

The win was extra special, carrying the $100,000 Inglis Xtra bonus, a phenomenal reward for Dr Bruce Flegg.

“She’s been building nicely and we’ve always felt she would appreciate getting out over a trip. We have targeted this race and seeked to capitalise on the Inglis bonus, so it certainly was a very rewarding win” Freedman said. “We are delighted have our first winner for Dr Flegg, especially with the Inglis Xtra bonus.”

Our Pierro has shown a strong staying profile and looks like she will keep improving to 2000m and beyond. Her performance at Kyneton has opened a number of options moving forward, with the filly now likely to be tested up in grade. “We have had a race like the Tasmanian Oaks in the back of our mind.”
