Lufitaah Breaks Through At Ballarat
Saturday, 21 Mar 2026
Lufitaah broke through for the first win of her career on her home track on Friday March 20, a gritty performance over 1600m in a maiden with lucrative Vobis bonuses attached.
Purchased for just $10,000, Lufitaah is another example of Mitch Freedman’s ability to find a successful horse for all budgets. “She had a great physical profile at the sale, the type of filly that was just going to keep improving with time and experience – I really enjoy working with this type of horse and thrilled for the owners to get a result on the board this early in her career.”
Dean Yendall executed the ride to perfection, landing Lufitaah in the one out one back position, using that tactical advantage to build into the race from the 600m and Lufitaah continued to build all the way to the line.
“We tested the waters with her in the Etheeral back in the Spring and we really think she can be a contender in stronger races as she gets out to 2000m and beyond with time.” Now with a win under her belt, this will only boost her confidence and plenty of upside to come.
Congratulations to all connections!
