Savitri's Saturday Success
Saturday, 04 Apr 2026
Savitri made it two wins in a row at Caulfield, this time on the main track on Saturday, April 4, surging away to a comfortable 1.5-length victory.
The exciting youngster now has three wins from just five starts and still has plenty of upside, with much to learn in terms of racecraft. Savitri jumped quickly from the gates but raced keenly with her head in the air in the early stages, not relaxing in the way you would like to see from a rising stayer. Despite this, once she found her rhythm, jockey Ben Allen commented that she was “lovely” and put her rivals away with ease.
Trainer Mitch Freedman was very complimentary of his filly “She has a lot of natural talent, and we are thrilled for Kia Ora Stud to secure a Saturday metropolitan win. We now have some exciting options to step her up again from here, potentially heading across the border to South Australia for the Group 1 South Australian Oaks.”
“With her racing manners, the step up to 2000 metres will be a test, but we are confident that if she can get the first half of the race right, she will be very competitive.”
It’s very exciting to have a progressive filly like this in the stable. We thank Kia Ora Stud for the opportunity to train her and very much look forward to seeing her in Adelaide over the carnival.
