Motiver bounced back to winning form at Warrnambool on September 3, storming over his rivals late to secure his second career win.

It has been a frustrating campaign for the gelding, with wet tracks, poor luck in running and performances that have fallen short of his best over the winter. Despite some pressure from owners which saw the gelding on Inglis Digital, the stable never lost faith in his ability, with Freedman continuing to trust his horse and, importantly, his staying credentials.

The victory was an important reminder of what Motiver can produce when things fall into place, and gives the stable renewed confidence heading into the drier months.
Freedman said "He is a stayer on the rise, we've done the work with him to get him this far and we need to remain confident in the horses ability. He is a true stayer, now a seasoned campaigner with almost twenty starts under his belt and he should just keep getting better with time."

Freedman revealed plans for Motiver to work his way towards the Jericho Cup, a particularly fitting assignment given Freedman's previous history with the race, having gone close in the feature staying contest before.

We will see Motiver return to the races at Mornington on September 17, racing over 3000m on his quest to receive more Jericho Cup points.
