Lightly raced mare, Chantra brought up a stable double at Colac on January 6 with a determined maiden win. The team has done a terrific job refining her training and feeding regime, tailoring her program to suit her individual needs and the mare has gone from strength to strength, particularly over the summer months.

The consistent mare has never finished outside the top four in any of her four previous starts and it was really pleasing to see her break through for a well-deserved win.

Freedman said “The team have started 2026 very well with three winners in the first week. Chantra is a horse that requires some extra work behind the scenes, she was the last horse to move her coat in the stable but since we have made some changes to her routine and feeding, she has really turned the corner and it’s great to see her get a well deserved win - particularly being a Vobis Platinum race.”

Chantra is leased by the Talty family, and it was a great thrill for the entire stable to share the win with them. Their involvement and support have been greatly appreciated and as a lease, to share the victory with other stable clients has been very rewarding.
