She’s Ann Idea announced herself as a mare with a bright future, producing a dazzling performance to win impressively on debut at Ballarat.

Making her first race appearance as a late-season four-year-old, the mare settled patiently towards the rear of the field over 1400 metres on the Ballarat Polytrack before unleashing a powerful finishing burst, sweeping past her rivals in the home straight.

Leading into the race, Freedman was confident the mare would be competitive, but just wanted to see her handle the race experience. "She has always shown a level of ability in her track work and coming to the races for the first time, we just wanted her to settle and finish the race off, to find the line. It was really pleasing to see her put the race away like she did."

The victory was especially satisfying for the stable, with her connections showing tremendous patience throughout her development. Her physical immaturity meant there was no need to rush her to the races and she was given the time to strengthen and mature, which has now been rewarded in the best possible fashion.

. While there is naturally still plenty for her to learn, She’s Ann Idea has given every indication that she is a mare capable of progressing through the grades as her racing experience grows.

She's Ann Idea was bred my Mike Hirst, who remains in the ownership group along with some syndicates run by the stable as part of the package deals that were offered by the stable.
