Sharaz - A Maiden Win That Needs To Be Seen To Be Believed!
Friday, 26 Jun 2026

Sharaz produced a dazzling debut at Bendigo on Thursday June 25. Long regarded the nursery of champions, Sharaz's victory was full of authority, that of a horse with an exciting future.
Off only the one jump out away from home, Freedman made the bold call to send him to the races, trusting that Sharaz's professionalism would carry him a long way. After being slow away, which was expected, Sharaz settled at the back of the field, travelling comfortably for John Allen on a hot tempo. Approaching the bend, Allen guided Sharaz to the outside and wow, did he let rip, exploding to the line with a devastating turn of foot.
The son of Shalaa was hand selected by Freedman at the Inglis Premier Sale of 2025 from the Armidale Stud draft. Remarkably, of only two two-year-olds that have been to the races, both were selected from the Inglis Premier Sale, both saluted on debut and both syndicated by the stable. It is a stark reminder of Freedman's incredible eye for a yearling and his outstanding record in the sales ring.
With an eye firmly on the future, Sharaz looms as a promising horse for the Spring as a three-year-old and beyond. Congratulations to his connections, many of whom are first time owners in the stable. We trust they are in for one very enjoyable ride!
