Gina's A Star added a valuable metropolitan win on Wednesday September 9, with a fighting effort to win by a nose.
Under the guidance of Jye McNeil, Gina's A Star travelled strongly on speed in the small field. The race came on strongly at the top of the straight and after hitting the front a long way from home, Gina's A Star showed true toughness and tenacity, fending off her rivals one by one despite being headed on multiple occassions.

A delighted Freedman was very proud of his mare post-race "she is in a really good place at home, she looks terrific and we have found what works with her. She was exposed a long way out and really had to tough it out, but she's done a great job."

The lightly raced daughter of Starspangledbanner was bred by Mike Hirst out of Gina's Hope, a stakes performing Written Tycoon mare thus this metropolitan win a great result for Mr Hirst and connections going forward.
